The University of Oxford and Santander Universities Global Division have renewed their successful partnership, extending an initiative that provides a range of graduate scholarship opportunities and travel awards, plus funding for research into International Human Rights Law and Latin American studies.

The three-year agreement continues Santander’s generous support for research initiatives within the University’s Latin American Centre and provides opportunities for students in International Human Rights Law at the Department for Continuing Education.

At an event on 11th November, Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Hamilton was delighted to welcome Santander’s Head of UK Banking Steve Pateman to Oxford, to celebrate Santander’s continued support. Mr Pateman also gave a presentation on sustainable economic recovery to over 100 students, staff and alumni.

The University of Oxford signed its first agreement with Santander in November 2007, and was one of the first universities in the UK to join forces with the bank. To date, Santander Universities Global Division has signed 1,020 co-operation agreements with universities in Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Chile, China, Colombia, Germany, Korea, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Singapore, Spain, USA, United Kingdom, UAE and Uruguay.
